The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Scholarship Program offers a master’s degree scholarship in the fields related to development at Asia Pacific University in Japan. The ADB-JSP Scholarship provides an opportunity to well-qualified citizens of the Asian Development Bank’s developing member countries to pursue graduate studies in development-related fields of the Asia Pacific region.

ADB selected APU as a designated institution in 2010, thus, APU now provides this scholarship each year to a few eligible GSA applicants (excluding IMAT program applicants).

Note: Initially, the scholarship period will be of one year. But extension is available. Therefore, for a second year, it could be granted based on the student’s academic performance at the university.

Eligibility Criteria for the Asia Pacific University ADB Scholarship 2027

Candidate must be a national of an ADB borrowing member country and a Japanese Official Development Assistance scholarship eligible country
The candidate should not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
The applicant must not presently reside or work outside of his/her home country
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience at the time of application
The candidate must be proficient in oral and written English language and must be able to pursue studies
The applicant must be 35 years old or less at the time of application
He or she has gained admission to an approved master’s degree program at a designated institution
The candidate must not already be enrolled in a graduate degree program
In principle, he or she must not have a bachelor’s or master’s degree obtained outside of the home country
He or she must not be pursuing a second master’s degree
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s or equivalent degree with superior academic standing
The candidate must not be an alternate director, executive director, management or staff of ADB, a staff of ADB-JSP designated institutions, nor a consultant or relative of the aforementioned
The candidate must show agreement (must agree) to return and work in the home country after completion of studies for a period of a minimum of two years after completing the studies
The income of the candidate’s family should not exceed US$50,000 per year, and individual income should not be more than US$25,000 per year.
The candidate is required to submit the certificate of income if chosen for the scholarship
