Details Regarding the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Graduate Research Scholarship 2025
UBD is the flagship university of Brunei Darussalam, which is located in the north of Borneo Island. It has 10 academic faculties and 7 research institutes. UBD possesses a strong record in international student exchanges, where the medium of instruction is English (courses are conducted in the English language). QS University Rankings puts UBD in 387th place.
As far as the funding matter is concerned, the UGRS will offer funding for higher impact research within the present research thrusts of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Brunei, including (but not limited to) Biodiversity, Energy, Material Science, Asian and Islamic Studies, Data Analytics, Climate Change, Bioinspiration, Sensor Technology, Herbal Medicine, and Catalysis.
Eligibility for UBD Graduate Research Scholarship (UGRS)
The ideal candidates are required to meet the UBD Graduate Research Scholarship (UGRS) requirements.
- Applicants should not be older than 30 years at the time of application (exceptions might be provided on a case-by-case basis)
- They should possess a Master’s degree* and a minimum upper second degree in a related field from an internationally recognized top university, or
- They should hold a first-class degree* in a related subject/field from an internationally recognized top university
- They need to fulfill the admission requirements of the UBD (including proficiency in English)
- Applicants are also required to refer to the General Entry Requirements of UBD
- They are required to submit a higher-quality and impactful research proposal
*Degree needs to be awarded within five years of the commencement date of the related academic semester of the enrolment (for example, 1st August or 1st January)
Available Financial Coverage
Successful candidates will receive funding (mentioned below) under the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Graduate Research Scholarship 2025 scheme.
- The successful candidates will receive an exemption from their tuition fees, including registration and acceptance fees
- They will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of BND 2,200.00 (Brunei Dollars) for 36 months
- They will be offered free on-campus accommodation (that does not include administrative fees)
- There will be traveling expenses offered to those candidates who do not live in Brunei Darussalam, such as one incoming and outgoing economy class airfare from and back to their home countries (upon completion of their study)
- They will also be provided with funding for international research or conference presentations. They will be offered up to BND 3,000.00 (Brunei Dollars)
- Visa fees will also be provided and included in the scholarship
