Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholars, through cultural exchange and academic collaboration, help bring about positive change and find solutions to the shared challenges we face – both in their home countries and those that host them.
Each year, there are two opportunities to apply for the QECS scholarship scheme. Cycle one opens in November/December, whereas cycle two opens in March/April. Applicants are required to submit one application, but they are welcome to apply more than once, provided that there is another country they are interested in studying in.

Eligibility Criteria for Queen Elizabeth Scholarships
- Applications from citizens (or those who have refugee status) in a Commonwealth country are eligible to apply
- Applicants are advised to apply for a QECS award in a country other than their home country/country of citizenship
- Refugees should apply as if they were citizens of the countries that have offered them refugee status
- There is no upper age limit to apply
- Applicants must have obtained at least a 2:1 (or equivalent) at an undergraduate level to be eligible to apply for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships
- They must have completed their degrees already and have graduated with an equivalent of a 2:1 at the time of application submission
- Applicants will be asked to provide a copy of their final transcript and degree certificate
Funding Availability
The following coverage will be offered to successful candidates.
- Fully funded coverage of the tuition fees
- Living allowance (in terms of stipend) will be provided for the whole duration of the award
- Airfare (return) – economy class flights to the host country
- One-off arrival allowance
- Research support grant (will be offered on request only, subject to approval)

- Interested applicants should check the list of countries and universities hosting scholarships in this cycle
- Only the courses listed are eligible for funding
- Applicants must have obtained a 2:1 to be able to apply for the QECS
- They are advised to visit the website of the relevant university for complete information on their selected course using the links available on the official website of QECS
- Applicants are advised to complete and submit a QECS application for their selected university/course by clicking the ‘Apply now’ button available on the official website. Once they have clicked the button, they will be directed to a ‘log in’ page. If they do not have a my ACU account already, they are then advised to create a new account to start the application process
- They should then submit their applications to their selected universities for admission to their chosen programs/courses
