The 2022-23 international scholarship programme opportunity offered by Aga Khan Foundation has started accepting the applications from the eligible students of the world. The application cycle is open now. The application period opens from 1st January 2022 and will last till 31st March 2022. About Aga Khan Foundation Scholarships

The foundation endows a limited number of scholarships to the students each year for their postgraduate studies. The exceptional students from select developing countries, who have financial hardships and have no other means of financing their studies, are conferred with these opportunities. The purpose of this opportunity is to develop the effective scholars and leaders and then prepare them for employment primarily within the AKDN.

The scholarships offered are conferred to successful students on a 50% grant and 50% loan basis, and this happens through a competitive application procedure each year in June and July.

Although the priority is given to the applications for the Master’s programmes, but the foundation is also open for PhD applications provided that the exceptional students who are highly recommended for the doctorate studies by their supervisors/professors and who are in a need of the doctorate (PhD) degree for the fulfilment of their career objectives (research oriented or academic).  For short-term courses, Aga Khan Foundation grants are not considered at all.

For Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme for 2022-23 application cycle, the applications will not be obliged and entertained from those students planning to study at the universities in United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Italy, The Netherlands, Ireland and Norway. Geographic Scope (List of Eligible Countries)

For Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme 2022, the applications are being accepted and will be accepted from the students (nationals) of the below-mentioned countries:

Note: In Portugal, France, United Kingdom, United States of America and Canada, applications are welcome from those applicants who are originally from one of the above-mentioned developing countries, and they are interested in development-related programs besides they have no other source for financing their studies.

Residency Requirement for Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship Application

The applications are only accepted from the eligible applicants (listed above) who are living in any one of the above-mentioned countries where local Aga Khan Education Services (AKES), Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), or Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) offices exist which process the applications of the applicants and also interview them.

The foundation will give preference to those applicants who are under the age of 30.

Financial Coverage

Under Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme, there is a financial coverage available for the students, who are chosen (as mentioned in above lines under Aga Khan Foundation Scholarships).

The successful students will be assisted in tuition fees and living expenditures coverage only. The travel cost will not be provided.

For PhD programs, funding will be endowed for first two years of study. After that period, the students are required to find alternative source.

Note: The students should understand that the half of the scholarship amount is considered as a loan that has to be reimbursed with an annual service charge of 5%. To co-sign the loan agreement, a guarantor will be required. The payback period for the loan amount is 5 years, commencing 6 months after the study period funded by the foundation.

The last submission date for the entire completed applications is 31st March 2022. But the applicants have to be aware of the internal deadlines which could be earlier to process and review their applications. How to Apply for Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme

The applicants can get the application forms as of January 1st each year from Aga Khan Education Services/Board or Aga Khan Foundation Offices in their countries of present residence.
