Details about KiNSIS Research Stay Grants 2023

When you plan to study abroad, you start searching for funding sources for your study. Well, if you are on your way to this, you may get awarded funding in Germany for your research. There are four research stay grants of €2,000 each per annum, as KiNSIS offers annually. The purpose of this grant is to promote visibility, mobility, and networking within the scientific community. Remember, this grant, if awarded, will have to be used within a one-year timeframe.

Upon return, the scholarship awardee will report on his or her work of science (scientific work) during the research stay by means of a presentation at a KiNSIS even for example general assembly, or retreat.

Who is the Right Candidate for This Grant (Eligibility Criteria)

You must be wondering who could be the right candidate for the Kiel Nano Surface & Interface Science (KiNSIS) grants. Let’s now check out the eligibility criteria for this opportunity.

The eligible candidates are the ones who hold postdoc degrees with a fixed-term contract and those who are W1 professors without tenure track in the research area of KiNSIS. Remember that the use of this grant is linked to a present (existing) employment or fellowship at Kiel University or at its partner institution.

Note: The applicants who were previously successful in this award (opportunity) are not eligible to submit the application again (they cannot reapply).

Required Formal Details

The applicants must be aware that their applications have to be written in English, the fonts used should be Arial 11 pt., and the applications should also include the below-mentioned things:

  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae (it has to be a maximum of two A4 pages)
  • Motivation Letter (it has to be in relation to core research fields/areas of KiNSIS in addition to the work plan, references, and budget plan. You may use this template.
  • Letter of the intention of institution abroad.

You should be very careful while arranging the documents, and making your application.

Criteria and Goals to Be Followed

Your motivation letter should address how the awarded funding should affect the below-mentioned points (a minimum of three out of seven points have to be addressed):

  • Interdisciplinary work’s promotion
  • Extension of the international and national scientific network and collaborations
  • Enhancement (improvement) of the applicant/candidate’s independent profile of research
  • Improvement (enhancement) of the international scientific working experience
  • Within the peer group, the increase (enhancement) of scientific visibility through contributions to international and national workshops/conferences
  • Broadening the range of future scientific fields (areas) of interest and collaboration partners
